Five Canadian cities rank among the top in the world, according to the 2023 rankings released this week.
The list of best cities, limited to cities with over one million residents, includes Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, and Ottawa at the top.
The people behind the list said the ranking was determined by analyzing a variety of factors that have historically been positively correlated with attracting jobs, investment and tourism.
Diversity, education, and the headquarters of numerous large corporations are why Resonance named Toronto the best city in Canada and her 24th in the world.

Montreal, his second-largest city in Canada, ranked him 56th for income equality, culture, the 'legendary McGill University' and technological know-how to attract foreign investment. Calgary ranks 65th for its young population, access to education, income equality and quality of life.
Metro Vancouver was his 69th on the list. Income equality, 'world-class' universities, safety and the region's unique geography are the reasons why Vancouver was named in the top 100.
Canada's capital, Ottawa, was the only Canadian city on the list, ranking highly for education, low cost of living and job opportunities.

According to the people behind the top 100 best city list 2023, 24 factors were considered to determine which cities were cut and in what order.
No city in Canada was in the top 10, and no other city was in the top 100, based on scores determined by these factors, but the million population threshold is higher than most other cities. does not qualify.
The list honorably names Kyiv as her 2023 World's Best City, and the report describes the Ukrainian capital as "a beacon of courage and resilience" in the face of daily tragedy.

Following London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Barcelona, Rome, Madrid, Singapore and Amsterdam rounded out this year's top ten.
